A lump-sum price hides the decisions that drive it. Here is what goes into ours and what you can push back on.

A quotation is the first real test of a supplier. Not because of the number at the bottom, but because of whether you can see how it was reached. A single lump sum tells you nothing about what would change if you moved a tolerance, doubled a quantity or accepted a two-week longer lead time.
Splitting the price this way is not an accounting exercise. It is what lets a buyer have a useful conversation: nearly every quotation we issue has at least one line where a small specification change would save real money, and you can only find it if you can see the line.
If a tolerance is tighter than the application needs, if a material is specified that we think is over-engineered, or if the quantity sits just under a price break — we will say so before you order rather than after. Losing margin on one line is cheaper than losing an account.
The supplier who tells you where you are overspending is the one worth keeping.
Quotation validity is stated on every document, and so is the lead time it depends on. If the market moves, we re-quote rather than quietly absorbing it and then asking later.
